14.06.18 Home - Malm

117 km, 6:32 cycling, average speed 17.8 km/h, total ascent 1390 m, net descent 210m

I am no longer surprised at the amount of ascent, but it is still challenging.

Woke up early and started from home around 07:30. Ferry (first of many) to Fosen at 08:30.

The ferry from "mainland Trøndelag" to the Fosen peninsula

The weather was generally nice, mostly cloudy, but a few patches of rain. So took my first rest under a roof at an NTE transformer station!

I had an hour's job meeting sitting in the entrance of Lauvtun forsamlingshus, a building for local social activities. None at this time though.

Though the first part of the trip was a bit boring and tedious, the second part along the Verrabotn (a side arm of a side arm of the Trondheimsfjord) was beautiful

I biked most of this stretch a couple of times in the second part of the 1980s, as part of "Trondheimsfjorden rundt", a bike "tour" (=crazy bike race). But don't remember much. Ok, it's 30 years ago, but I never saw much else than the other bikes :-)

The wood pulp factory at Follafoss - quite a lot of timber
Now what is more picturesque than an old hydro power station? Follafoss power plant from 1923 (refurbished in 2005). The don't make them like that anymore...
In fact they have a hotel in the small village of Malm. Good for me. Not exactly your fancy city hotel, but I have seen enough of them. Bed is good, food not really gourmet, but ok and lot's of calories - which is what I need.
