Somewhat late start and detour to Hilversum. Then increasingly windy and some showers, even lightning and thunder. Chilly. And pretty tired in the end, it became a bit longer than intended. But good to be welcomed by my very good friends in Schiedam, Jan and Dory.

I could not find one of my front bags, pretty weird. So I had to take a detour to Hilversum to buy a new set - you can only buy two, not one. And the shop opened 09:30, so could not start as early as I like, say 8.
Nice, sunny weather also after Hilversum but soon the clouds started coming in, followed by the first showers. So put on my rain pants, which I kept on most of the day.

Great bike lanes through the fields. Nice to have no other traffic around. It can be incredibly silent, even in the densely populated Netherlands. Apart from the blowing of the wind that is. But sometimes they make a a little hard to enter such lanes with a heavily loaded bicycle.

Lunch in the canteen of a home for elderly people. Fits nicely for my age you might say.
During the afternoon I get increasingly tired of the unrelenting headwind. Last year I went to the Northeast against the Northeast wind, now to the Southwest against the Southwest wind. That's how it is with cycling!

Nasty episode around Gouda where the road was suddenly totally blocked by work. Fair enough, but give a pre-warning! Gave me another 5km on a long day.
Finally approaching Rotterdam, crossing the city from East to West and finally arriving in Schiedam for a hot shower, a great meal and good company.

The whole trip was 103,4 km and took me about 9 hours (6:30 active cycling).
I am impressed Gerard! Another tour on your bike. Now to more warmer regions than last year, though it was a bit chilly today I learned. But "wat in het vat zit verzuurd niet" . Good luck and give my regards to Jan and Dory. Don't think I have met Dory, but Jan might know who I am.
