Three distinct stages today: a flat rural area, a bit like the Netherlands, pine forests and finally typical beach resorts and boulevards. Mostly clouded but pretty good temperature. Ending the day with a swim in the Atlantic.
| Now properly following the Eurovelo 1, the Atlantic coast route. The part in France is called La Velodysée. |
| Typical for the landscape the first part of the route |
| Looks like the French (or Italian?) flag |
| While the bicycle tracks are generally good, there are also a few narrow ones |
| It looks to me they open the canal locks during low tide to reduce the water levels |
| Seems to be a special technique for fishing (or crayfish?) |
| Great areas for birds |
| The bridge to the island Île de Noirmoutier |
| Time for lunch, found a table today. Not easy, there were quite a few, but popular with the French on a Sunday |
| Seemed to be an event in Saint-Jean-de-Monts |
| The Atlantic coast. Rocks and beaches. |
Arrived in Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie 15:45, small and nice hotel 100 meter from the beach. Tailwind the last 20km, always feels good the last part.
Today I did 90 km, which took 8:30 hours, 6:20 cycle time. Total distance 1560 km. Niort within shooting distance. Almost.
Fint landskap i dag og en lang tur. Godt med en dukkert da du kom fram.
