22.05.25 Day 16 - Sobieszewo-Pasłęk. Leaving Eurovelo 13.

My present plan is to visit Bogdan in Przewięź.  Bogdan worked at the farm of Anbjørg's father in 1980/81. We have kept contact since then, but not met. Looking forward to it. 

Przewięź is slightly south of Suwalki, know for the "Suwalki corridor", the area between Kaliningrad and Russia. Therefore, my route goes a bit more south than originally planned. I'm now in Pasłęk, a small town with good facilities.  On the map you can see my present position.

I'm now planning my route using OrganicMaps, which works fine. It suggested a more direct route then Eurovelo 13 for the first part today, and I chose that option because I'm a bit fed up of the gravel roads. The first 15km were very nice, quiet road and bike path. After that, following the S7/E27, the highway to Warszawa, relatively closely. Nice roads, but you hear the traffic noise. 

Passing Elblag, a relatively large city. Soon afterwards, the EV13 moves north, and I leave it. Slightly wistful after 10 days. Now I need to find my own way. Maybe I'll rejoin it in Estland.

Note that the EV13 crosses through Kaliningrad (Russia), which is presently not accessible. You need to ride around somehow. Alternative GPX routes are available here.

Crossing the Vistula river. I misunderstood and thought that the road on the left was the highway, and started walking this very narrow path. Stupid. Fortunately I found out after 30m, and had to ride back my bicycle. No room to turn around 😊

In Nowa Pilona, the route leaves the S7, and you get a combination of paved and upaved roads. It goes a bit slower, but nice surroundings and no noise. I discovered there is an option in OrganicMaps to avoid unpaved roads, I'll try that tomorrow.

In Pasłęk I checked the possibilities for the night. Many here, but then nothing for the next 30km or so. It was either 80km or 110, so I went for Pasłęk. I'm moving into a less touristic area with less options.

81km in 6:45 hours, active time 4:50.
