65 km, 4 hours 21 minutes cycling time
In the Netherlands this time, together with my wife for 43 years, Anbjørg. No altitude profile this time, not so interesting. Still, it would show that much of the trip was below sea level. And a consistent Northeastern breeze still offered some physical challenge. But in contrast to most of our contemporaries we don’t use ebikes. We consider ourselves too young.
We started in Durgerdam, just east of Amsterdam.
We cycled east of the polder Beemster, which was laid dry already in the mid 17th century. Here is one of the pumping stations that keep it dry today, 4.4 meters below sea level.
Spent the night in the small town Medemblik, in a B&B in a house from the 17th century.
