17.05.25 🇳🇴 Day 11 - Międzyzdroje-Kołobrzeg. Windy, some rain and COLD

Constitution day in Norway - gratulations to my  and all friends!

Continuing to follow Eurovelo 10/13. Starting with some steep climbs, then putting on my rain clothes. A lot of wind, but mainly from the side and behind. Best of all, largely riding through forests where you feel less of the ice cold wind.

Very good marking in Poland - once you know what to look at

A slightly relaxing start of the day after yesterday's long trip, leaving around eight thirty. Quite a lot of ascent, after an hour you have about 200m (which is significant, even in Norway). After that it is flat. I chose to ride the road out of Międzyzdroje. The EV10/13 follows a forest track, partly bad according to my guide, and I did not find that attractive, given the ascents. Road without bike path is no problem when there is not much traffic, as on Saturday morning.

After half an hour it started raining for an hour, and for the first time I put on my rain gear. It appeared I had taken the wrong rain pants. These are my trekking pants, but they largely do the job anyway. Unsure if they keep the water out of my shoes after many hours of rain, we'll see.

After some time I passed the lighthouse in Niechorze.

Lighthouse Niechorze

I mentioned before that there are many nice people around. Not everyone. After having asked for a coffee some place, which they did not have, I sat down on the terrace to study the map. I was more or less thrown out with a long tirade in Polish - which was obvious I did not understand 😀. But I got a coffee somewhere else from a nice girl who spoke good English. Rather an exception here.

Luxury flats close to Rogowl

Several places I rode past really huge complexes of flats. Clearly there are people with money here too.

I sat down for lunch some place with good protection from the wind, right along the walking and cycling track. After a while some people came along, and talked too me. Marian was very good-humoured (with some help), and wanted a picture with me.

Marian and me

I'm very impressed by the standard of the cycling paths and lanes here. Some parts in the forest are not so good, but still acceptable (yesterday seems to be an exception). And the marking is very good, I hardly need the map. Even benches and the occasional resting place.

Resting place along the EV13 in Poland

I did not rest here, but found it worth a picture.

An easy day (only 90km), but windy and cold. The wind didn't bother me much, mostly from the side and slightly behind, and besides much of the route was in forests. But it was only 8-9 degrees, and with the wind that's not very comfortable. Tomorrow looks really bad. I think I'll make it a short day, 40-50km. I'll let you know.

92 km in 7:30 hours. Active time 6 hours.
Total 1098km.

Fun fact 1: when leaving my "hotel" today, a guy talked to me in Norwegian (he saw my flag. Appeared to be a Pole, living in Mjøndalen. Norwegian, Poland's second language?

Fun fact 2: as I wrote, I'm largely riding through forests, could be the Veluwe in the Netherlands. Somewhere I heard the sound of a highway- Looking at the map, I could not find it. Appeared to be the sea, 100m away. You more or less forget that you are so close to the sea
