26.06.2026 Day 16 - Bruz - Rieux. Tent is best when it's hot!

A warm night at the golf resort, but lower temperatures today, around 30 by noon. Again following a river, the Ille has now flowed into the Villaine that I follow until Redon. Then found a camping a little further south. 

I see quite a few are reading this, comments and questions are welcome!

Airconditioning is clearly not so common here (yet?), and the relatively expensive golf resort where I stayed did not have it. I sleep pretty well even if it is warm, but then the mosquitos come. Even with a repellent it is hard to fully avoid them, and they love me. In the tent is gets cooler and it is easier to keep out the mosquitos. 

Breakfast at the resort and then leaving at 07:45. The temperature was about the same as yesterday, but it did not increase so much. A week ago I would have called this a hot day, but 30 is A LOT better than 40. So a nice day on the bike along the Villaine river, which runs into the Atlantic a little further north than the Loire (but I won't follow it that far). Some pictures below.

Found a simple camping in Rieux, a little south of Redon.

Approaching Nantes, which I drop, crossing the Loire with a ferry further west tomorrow

86 km that took me 6:40 hours, 4:40 cycle time. Total distance 1360 km.
